In line with the University's commitment to collaborative partnerships, the Library offers an extensive range of facilities to Higher Education students and staff from partner institutions. These facilities are designed to augment the primary services provided by the libraries at the partner institutions. Students on undergraduate Higher Education courses at partner institutions may register to use the Albert Sloman Library for reference purposes. This includes access to photocopiers, the Library's enquiry service and the online catalogue. When first visiting the Library, please come to the Circulation desk on the ground floor with your institutional library card so that we can issue you with a reference card. Further information about using the Library for reference is available on the Information for visitors page.

In addition to the services detailed under reference above, you will be able to borrow five books at any one time for a maximum of two weeks. All Higher Education staff and students at partner institutions may take advantage of "walk-in" access to a selection of the Library's online resources. If you wish to make use of this service, please come to the Enquiry desk on the first floor, with two forms of identification, including one which includes proof of your current postal address. Please note that for copyright and licensing reasons, remote networked access to the Library's online resources is not available to users from regional partner colleges.

It will then be sent to the South Essex College library on the van for the student to collect. Short loan and three day loan books are excluded from this service. Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust

Students who are studying University validated courses and are registered as University of Essex students at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust may borrow books from the Albert Sloman Library. The Library has a variety of loan periods in order to meet the needs of all members of the University. Students based at the Trust may find that material which can be borrowed on standard loan (until the end of the University term for postgraduate students) is the most useful. Books may be renewed online or by telephone. All borrowing from the Albert Sloman Library by Trust students takes place directly from the Library itself; there is no postal loans service.

Online resources for registered University of Essex students can be accessed through the Library website. Access to resources is controlled by University username and password rather than by ATHENS.

Staff of the Trust may register for reference facilities at the Albert Sloman Library, and may apply for borrowing rights at the discretion of the Librarian. Other students of the Trust are also eligible to receive reference facilities. Please contact the Librarian in order to arrange access.
