The Library subscribes to a number of newspapers: The Times, The Guardian, Financial Times,and a selection of Russian newspapers. Current issues of these papers are available on the ground floor of the Library. Older issues of many of these titles, as well as some others, are available online (see below) or on microfilm. The relevant microfilms can be requested from the Library Helpdesk on the Ground Floor.
The database Nexis provides around a 20 year (more in some cases) archive of news from a large number of global sources. Offers the full text of articles from major papers such as: The Times, Guardian, FT, New York Times, Washington Post, etc., as well as smaller circulation regional titles (particularly for the UK & . Keesing's World News Archive offers full text access to a digest of global news stories (current year and previous 12 months only)
British Newspapers 1600-1900 contains full runs of national and regional newspapers from two cross-searchable databases: Burney Collection Newspapers (17th & 18th century) & 19th Century British Library Newspapers
The Daily Express (& Sunday Express) and Daily Mirror are available online from UKPress Online (1900-)
The Daily Mail (1896-2004) is available from the Daily Mail Historical Archive.
The Economist magazine is a useful source of reliable and current political & economic information. The web version Economist.com offers articles from 1997 and a good deal of web only content, whilst older articles are available from the Economist Historical Archive (1843-2010)
The Guardian is available from Nexis (1984-) and via ProQuest Historical Newspapers (1821-2003). Its sister Sunday paper, The Observer is available from Nexis (1992-) and via Proquest Historical Newspapers (1900-2003).
The Times is available from Nexis (1985-) and via the Times Digital Archive (1785-1985)
The New York Times is available from Nexis (1980-) and ProQuest Historical Newspapers (1851-2008)
