These pages are intended to help anyone interested in applying for a one-year post as a student assistant here in the Library at the University of Essex before going on to library school. 

As a student assistant the tasks are many and varied.  The traineeship includes placements in the cataloguing, inter-library loans and accessions departments, and these places are where you'll spend the bulk of your time each day.  Other duties are undertaken on a weekly basis.  Click on 'What we do' on the left hand navigation bar for a brief description of what you'll get to do in each area.
