The university accommodation office can help staff with accommodation, but their priority is to the students. It is worth contacting them as they will be able to point you in the right direction if you are having trouble. http://www.essex.ac.uk/accommodation/ If you decide to take matters into your own hands, these are some of the sites we found useful when looking for somewhere to rent in Colchester, whether you want to live alone or share. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/ The ideal areas to live if you want to be near the university are Greenstead and Hythe in the east, or Wivenhoe which is a small village just outside Colchester. Buses go to the university from these areas, and there are plenty to and from the town centre as well. Sometimes it’s useful to check the local paper for any rooms that are being let.
